Henrietta Game

Described as 'alternative-folk merchants' (Hotpress), Henrietta Game possess uniqueness in both their instrumentation and style. This makes it very difficult to classify them definitively.

These 'little gems' (Tony Fenton, Today FM) performed twice at Electric Picnic 2009, who described their sound as 'evocative lyrical melodies accompanied by haunting vocal and string harmonies'.

Recently, they attained the title of Jack Daniels Set 2010 finalists (Limerick, March 2010). “Featuring a beguiling blend of cello, violin, glockenspiel, and guitar the four-piece set a high standard. The bewitching vocal harmonies on fan-fave ‘Berlin’ was arguably the highlight.” (Roisin Dwyer, Hotpress 2010)

“…Henrietta Game were clearly playing outside the box. In ‘Running Out of Time’ and ‘Ah’ they have two classy tunes that give full voice to their luxuriant harmonies and pastoral rockisms. With influences that mix classical with folk and elements of Julie Feeney, Sigur Rose and Sufjan Stevens, they’re way beyond the rock-by-numbers game.” (Jackie Hayden, Hotpress 2010)

They have had numerous appearances on both television (RTE [The Café], TG4, BBC 2) and radio (Today FM, 98 FM, Phantom FM, RTE RnaG).

Although, the majority of Henrietta Game’s shows have been to audiences in the capital (Whelan’s, The Button Factory, The Academy…), various Gaeltacht areas (Gweedore, Connemara) have also enjoyed visits from the band where they perform ‘as Gaeilge’.

Still a young band (formed January 2009), there is no doubt that Henrietta Game have experienced a meteoric rise in the Irish music scene and look set to continue to do so.
